Rain, Rain Go Away.....

All this rain hasn't been good for me, Carmen & Sienna when it comes to off leash work.  Thank goodness the forecast looks good from now on and we will be working hard to get their off leash work where it needs to be!!  Carmen is doing great with her social skills except for when she is in the crate.  This is a few found confidence that she's just starting to show so I have started to address that and she's not 100% with it but she's getting there.  Sienna is doing good but her downfall is still distractions when she's off the leash so we will be working hard and getting her ready to see her family!

Carmen

This sweet, funny faced girl is Carmen.  She is a 2 year old Boxer that is here to learn how to be a lady with other dogs as well as my Intermediate Obedience Package.  She has been here a few days and is settling in great.  She was a little unsure of her new friends at first but with a little time & encouragement she is starting to come around.  I'll have more pictures and more of a progress report as her visit unfolds!
She's not quite sure of Sienna's smooches

Sienna

This beautiful girl is 4 month old, Viszla, Sienna.  She has been here for my Advanced Obedience program.  She is about 2 weeks into her training.  She has learned how to heel nicely at my left side with no pulling.  When we stop, where most dogs would learn to sit, she is learning to stand for her future in the show ring.  She isn't actually learning the sit command at all.  She knows her down-stay command, although it is the one she struggles the most with.  She still needs much reinforcement in that command even with minimal distractions.  She is doing excellent at her place command.  She is maintaining her place command with little to no correction and for extended periods of time.  She has started her transition to the off leash work in some areas but I would like to see her a little more solid on all the basics before I progress more in that area with her.  She has made tons of friends & is quite the social butterfly.  She sort of holds the card as the annoying little sister..... everyone else is pooped and ready to rest & she's still bugging them to play :o)  The rest of her time here will be spent progressing with her off leash work, refining all her commands & adding more distractions!!! Stay tuned for more on Sienna!

More on Alida & Gibbs

The wonderful story of Gibbs & Alida has gone all the way to New York, on the Today show!  I feel very blessed and fortunate to be apart of a dog doing such an amazing wonderful things for a child.  Dogs give themselves selflessly, unconditionally and all they ask for in return is a snuggle, some belly rubs and a good meal :o)  Gibbs is lucky to have such a great girl to grow with.

Cargo Is Back!!

Little Cargo is back to finish her training!! She will be with me for the next 2 weeks to weeks to accomplish the advanced obedience.  She has been very excited to be back & see all her friends but it was straight to business when she got here.  Her mom & dad have done a great job with her Basic Obedience but she definitely knows when that leash comes off it's a free for all and she is out of control.  Stay tuned for Cargo's progress over the next two weeks as she learn her off leash work!

Work, work, work!!

I was hoping to ease back into work but that's just not been the case!!  It's great problem to have and I am so happy to see my clients again.  I have many new trainees!  Miss Laina finished up her 3 week Advanced Obedience and she made me very proud!! She did absolutely excellent & I hope her mom is enjoying her much more now that she has the tools & techniques to help her follow through.  I also finished with long time and repeat client on their new addition Ellie, a 4month old Great Dane pup who also completed the Advanced Obedience.  We still have some work to accomplish with her in our follow up lessons but she has made great progress back home with her family.

I have also just finished up with Amos - a 2 year old American Staffordshire Terrier who needed some Basic Obedience and a little work learning to socialize with a little less exuberance.  He spent one week & did very well.  He definitely likes to chose which command he does when given a specific command but that just won't cut it :o)  He is now back home with his mom, dad & big sister & former trainee, Mesa.  He is definitely giving them a challenge but they will stay consistent and follow through.  We'll have a follow up lesson the next time they are back in Georgia too!

I have a new trainee this past week that has joined us all the way from Pensacola, FL.  He is an 8month old English Bulldog pup named Patton!  He will be with me for two weeks.  He has completed week one of his training with the Basic Obedience.  In true Bulldog fashion he
is quite stubborn but incredibly smart.  He does get easily worn out by our training work outs though.  He is only able to go about 10 minutes and then he's ready to fall asleep.  He was holding his sit command while I was trying to distract him out of the command and he was head bobbing and lightly swaying trying to hold his sit. Poor little guy.  He is a super playful guy and has made lots of friends.  He has made himself quite at home always asking if he can get up on the couch for his very frequent naps.

He still has some work to accomplish this next week so more updates to come on Patton!

I'm Baaaack!!!

I am back after the fastest maternity leave ever.  I have a new trainee to tell you guys about!!

Meet Laina!
She is an absolute doll. She is here for my Advanced Obedience.  She has been here a week and is doing very well.  She definitely has a mind of her own but what girl doesn't ;o)  She has completed, with flying colors, the basic, on leash part of the training so we started the off leash this morning.  She had a rough time with it in our first lesson but had a complete break-through in our afternoon lesson and then looked like an old pro this evening.  We'll work a bit tomorrow but I'll most likely work on her place command since we're expected to get rain.  She has made TONS of friends.  She is definitely a social butterfly and doesn't take no for an answer when it comes to playing.  I am super pleased with he progress up to this point & look forward to the next 2 weeks!  More on Laina to come!
