~ANNOUNCEMENT~

This is Denali. He is a 2 year old Great Pyrenees. He is owned by the Scheck family. Denali will be with me for the next 8-10 weeks being trained as a service dog for Hudson Scheck. Hudson has seizures & needs the assistance of a service dog. Though they are able to cover part of Denali's training & certifications to become Hudson's service dog they can not afford the full amount. I am reaching out to my readers & hoping you will pass the word along to anyone that might want to donate money for this family to put forth to cover the expenses of having him trained & certified. The donations are NOT tax deductible.... you are giving out of the goodness of your hearts & helping a family that needs it. I am training him with no money up from & covering all his expenses & just ask for people to pull together to help reimburse if they feel like they want to. Thank you ahead of time for any help you can give or for just passing the word along! If you would like to contribute please email me: Ashleigh@ga-k9.com

Merry Christmas with Bones & Paws!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!  All your babies did.  Santa brought them home-made treats from Mrs. Clause, edible bones (that didnt' last long), & new Kong toys!  Thank goodness it wasn't raining on Christmas because we play hard & slept even harder ;o)  But now for holiday updates . . .

Mekko:
Little baby Mekko is coming along nicely.  It's been a rough couple of weeks with him but he's doing much better this past week & definitely more responsive & open to minding his manners :o)  He is quite the drama queen around distraction though, so that's where our main focus is going to be over this next week and his attention to holding his commands; right now it's about .3 seconds.  He's growing like a weed & has the appetite to follow :o)  He & Duke are the best of friends & Mekko is like a little brother that tries to do whatever his big brother does.  It's soo cute.

Angelica:
Jelly-belly girl finished up with her Advanced Obedience with flying colors.  She went home right before Christmas & is doing fabulous!!

Sunshine:
Sunshine girl was home for Christmas as well and is doing SUPERB!!  Her momma loves taking her for walks now & doesn't worry about passing other people or dogs & Sunshine is excellent at staying on her place when people come in!  More updates on Sushine to come :o)

As well as having a few trainess we've had holiday boarders & it's been so much fun around here.  Playtimes have been a blast & I love having everyone here!  More to come on all my trainees as we bring in the NEW YEAR~~~2010~~~~

Lets Get Down To Business!

Things have been quite chaotic around here in the last month. I have been working but haven't posted due to family loss & computer whoas. Thank you to all my clients that were so patient with me, understanding & for all the prayers. But now lets get down to business!!! I have a lot of trainees to fill you in on & current trainees to blog about, so lets get to it!

This is Lily. She is an Australian Cattle Dog mix that was going through a revised Intermediate Training program. She is about 7 months old & all puppy. She was running the house & sometimes being a stinker about it. She did fantastic with the gang & playtime was her favorite part of the day ..... go figure :o) I have had a few follow up lessons with her making sure to keep her & her momma in line & on the right track. We have some work to do but she is moving along great!! Lily has since been back for boarding & we hope to see her more in the future as well!

This is Laska. She is a 1 year old German Shepherd that went through the Advanced Obedience. She had no manners about her, she had a very aggressive & scary greeting to people she didn't' know & didn't have a great reputation when it came to meeting new dogs. She stayed with me for about 4 weeks & she did a complete 360. She is now excited & polite about meeting new people. She is actually an absolute love & eats up the affection. She played great with the gang & had a fondness for the kitties :o) She even went to PetSmart & had her picture taken with Santa!! We'll see how our follow up lessons pan out & we'll be seeing Laska in the future for some holiday boarding!!
Java returned to move into the Advanced Obedience & of course she was excellent. She is going to be such a awesome pet for her family! She is sooo willing to please & is so calm for a puppy! It was great to see her again & she was beside herself to play with the gang again. Java also brought her friend Cece along this time for training. Cece belongs to their daughter. Cece is a 4 year old Pitt Bull. She is a beautiful, super sweet girl but was having some possessiveness issues with toys, food & space. She stayed for about a week & we worked on her manners when greeting people as well as learning to share. Cece did wonderful but we'll see how momma follows through with the new tough rule ;o). More updates on Cece later!!
Bernice also joined me for the Advanced Obedience (sorry no pictures. She got caught up in the computer whoas along with Cece). Bernice is a 5 month old Boxer mix. She too was just puppy; jumping up, mischief, no manners, no direction, selective hearing.....etc. She did SUPERB!! She really excelled in the obedience & was quite excited to make so many new friends. She will be back next week & then again at Christmas for boarding so I'll update more on Bernice & have super cute pictures to share as well!
This is Kaya. She is an almost 2 year old Shiba Inu. She is suuuuuch a love & I really enjoyed having her. She was a referral from Stella & Vinnie's owner, so thanks Mrs. Lauren!! Kaya owners had some concerns of possible aggression towards other dogs & people as well as stealing her kids toys, bolting out the door, nipping & mouthing to play & for attention. Kaya absolutely did not have much direction but really benefited from learning a few basic commands & so did her family! They learned Kaya that Kaya is a sensitive girl that needs proper introduction to people & other animals otherwise she shows fear responses & gets a little nippy. Kaya gained some confidence as well & learned to no long bolt out the door :o) We look forward to updates on Kaya!

Now I have Meeko for the Advanced Obedience! Meeko is the little brother to Songede, who was here a few months ago for the Advanced Obedience as well! Meeko is a 4month old Rhodesian Ridgeback. We are a little bit in love with this little guy. His momma & daddy flew him in on Wednesday so he's only been here a few days but he's doing excellent so far!! He's walking great on the leash, doing his sit (stays) & down(stays), socializing great & NO potty problems!! He's making new friends & making us want a Rhodesian more & more everyday!

More on Meeko's progress to come!

Meet Sunshine!! This sweet girl will be with me for the next week, maybe more, for the Basic Obedience as well as socializing her with the gang. She pulls her momma down on walks & acts out aggressively towards other dogs out on walks. Her momma is scared of her behavior & wants to learn how to make Sunshine a social, happy girl! She's been here two days so far & I don't have a bad things to report!! Day 1 was learning her boundaries on the leash, no pulling, auto-sit, sit(stays) & introducing her to the gang; piece of cake! She's walking great & hasn't had any issues with the gang :o) We'll see how the week progresses!

And, last but certainly not least is Miss Angelica!! Jelly was here for some Basics a few months ago but now she's moving on to the Advanced work! She has certainly changed though :o) About 80lbs of change!
She had a bad experience with getting attacked by dogs so she's been a bit nervous about meeting new dogs. I did a slow intro into the group & now she's doing awesome!! She still a bit clingy but venturing out more to romp with the gang. More to come on Jelly!!

Da-danes!

Bye for now!

Java's Homecoming

Little Java joined her family earlier this week!  She was quite excited & quick to think her family didn't have the same rules :o)  After teaching her dad the new rules & giving him some "homework" they should be good to go!  I'll check back in with them in about a week or so in a follow up lesson to see how they're working out!

Sampson!!!!

Sampson = AWESOME!!! He is making great progress & doing wonderful with his off leash work, socialization, manners, etc...... He has made tons of friends mostly dog but has warmed up to a few reoccurring people over the last few weeks. He's doing great meeting strangers. He's not weary anymore & is understanding the routine of "go say hi". He's not overly affectionate with people, which I don't expect; it's not his personality but he is comfortable with strangers being around him now & with being petted if told. He IS, however, a complete maniac with the other dogs..... in a good way ;o) He is super playful with me & the other dogs. He has taken to what I call face wrestling with Duke (my Dane). He & Duke lay sprawled out on the floor & mouth & "face wrestle" back & forth for what seems like hours..... very cute. He has gone to the barn with me to work on his off leash work. He doesn't seem very concerned with the horses & he's been more inclined to ignore them & run around with Duke or follow me around. The weather has been great to venture out to the dog park & he's also gone with me to follow up lessons to act as distraction and has done superb!! :o) The training schedule for Sampson over the next week consist of frequenting the parks & pet stores to continue his off leash work around hard distractions!! More to come on Sampson soon. :o)

Cute face :o)

Olli & Sampson. I'd like to take credit for the cute pose but they did it all themselves

Java Is A Star

Java is doing really great! She started her "place" command the end of last week & has done excellent with the command. She picks up on her commands very quickly & isn't too pushy to get her way. She has stayed on her place for about an hour or more without correction & with the distraction of the other dogs around, people coming into the house, ringing of the door bell & eating dinner. Excellent job Java!!!

Java on place with her favorite toy

As well as working on staying on place for extended lenghts of time & having heavy distractions around I started her on her off leash. She's doing really well in the sterile environment..... we'll see how she does with the added distractions & a bit more distance between the two of us .... eeeks!!

In A Word.........Ambitious

Zoee's Homecoming :o)

Everyone seems to be clearing out!  Zoee went home over the weekend as well!  She was so excited to be home & play with their Dane/Pitt mix puppy.  She managed to keep herself clean for all of about 3 1/2 seconds & then she was wrestling with the other dog.... oh well.  She did great during her lesson & I hope to hear good reviews from her family on her progress over the next few week!

Bella Homecoming!

Bella had her go home lesson over the weekend.  She did great despite her initial excitement of seeing the family & grandparents :o)  It was a family affair.  I'm sure the Edwards family will be great at following through & I hope to see Bella for boarding over the holidays!!
