Updates on the Babies!!

Hi Mom's, Dad's, family members, friends & new followers! Just wanted to give an update on how all my trainees & boarders are doing! Sasha, the Husky puppy, went home on Friday. I was sad to see her go after 4 weeks of training but she is really doing great! She is so willing to please & so smart, she shouldn't give her family much trouble at all. I'll have a follow up lesson with her in the next few weeks with an update on her progress!
Gracie-lou is doing very well. Her mom & dad (Dr. Andy) are away this week on vacation so it
just makes more sense for Gracie to stay with me and continue her training & play!! We love having her & I will be terribly sad to see her go on Friday. She loves going for walks with me (off leash of course), as well as go to the horses with me.... but I have to keep an eye on her. She's kinda sneaky about trying to steal a mouth full of horsie-surprise (if you know what I mean ;o) She had a hot spot that started last week but with TLC & meds seems to be getting much better! Her potty training is going so great. We haven't had an accident in weeks but she's on a very strict feeding schedule & I always monitor her water intake (which is a lot) so that I can let her out to potty accordingly. Every time I work with a Golden it makes me want one.... don't worry, no more for us for a while.

Neo is coming along nicely. It's been slow progress with him because I've been working on his confidence issues as well. He knows all his obedience commands (heel w/auto sit, sit-stays, down-stays, come, at ease, place & of course, No.) He's started his off leash but the collar I ordered for him had a problem so I'm waiting for his new one to come today & we can pick back up where we left off :o) His socialization has come 360 degrees. She's much more comfortable around the other dogs now. He is okay with the cats as long as he's watched but I wouldn't trust to leave him unattended with them at this point. He's putting on his weight slowly.... he would put more on if he was snipped (hint hint). But over all Neo is doing very well. I'll spend the next week of so polishing up all his commands, adding distractions, & of course working off leash!
Goldie girl is doing pretty well.... The last few days has been her stubborn streak & DE-FI-ANT!!! She's definitely going to make me work this next week! We went for a loooong walk this morning & she acted like it was day 1 all over again :o( By the end of the walk she had collected herself but it was pretty rough for the first 10min or so. Then she joined Duke & I at the horses & she did fabulously! She was off leash the whole time & followed me & followed all her commands beautifully. Then when we got home we worked on "place" for a bit. I ring the door bell, knock & funny enough, she always falls for it, heehee. Her barking is getting much better. There's always that initial freak out moment & then I give her direction & commands, she quites down & does what she's supposed to. The UPS truck should be here between 2 & 4 today so that will be a great test for her! She's scheduled to go home Friday so she can be home for her momma's birthday so we've got get crack'n on a betters success rate & much less defiance :o)

Shelly, the Bichon Frise' puppy, has been with me for the last few days advancing in her obedience to the Advanced Off Leash program as well as working on her stubbornness & defiance. She has hit her "adolescence" so to speak & has really been a handful for her family. She is taking it upon herself to make a new place to go potty...... & it's a very poor choice. So I'm getting her back on track for her potty training & when she gets home she'll have a strict schedule & she'll be well mannered & controllable off the leash!! She is loving the other dogs & play & she an snuggle bug at night :o) Such a sweet girl. She has also joined me at the horses, off the leash. She is still a bit nervous around the horses. She runs in for a quick sniff & then hauls tush back to my side & then she gets excited, almost as if she's proud of herself. It's pretty cute. More to come on Shelly!

Mid Week Update On the Crew!

Well, well. Where do we begin. So much to say & so little time. Kinsley went to his new home this weekend with my Aunt & Uncle! They love him & from what I hear there's been minimal transitional whoas. Sasha is hanging out with me until Friday working on being more on point & responding better around distractions. She's doing great. Gracie-lou has made a complete 180 degree turn for the better. She is still playful, silly, go wild Gracie but she is well mannered now & she listens. She is going home next week & I am quite sad :o( We have a new-comer, Goldie!! She is doing the Advanced Obedience. Her first two days have been awesome. She is super responsive & focused & looooves to please. She's going to do wonderful! She loves the other dogs & staying on her place wonderfully as well (pictures to come). Neo, the Mastiff, is doing very well. His on leash obedience is wrapping up & I'll be starting his off leash work soon. He's quite a lover; super sweet boy :o)

On a personal note, my baby horse, Levi is doing AWESOME. He's growing like a weed & is soooo dang tall it's amazing. He's pretty much looking me in the eyes, which doesn't say much but for a week old he's purdy tall! (more picture of that to come as well).

Have a great evening everyone!

God Has A Way.....

I'm never sure why dogs always seem to find their way to me, but in fact.... another has. This is Magnolia (Maggie). She is a Great Pyrenees pup; maybe a year or so old. She was left at the barn. This behavior seems to be a common occurrence by driver-byers. I guess they see us with the dogs & horses & cats & chickens & so, on & so on ........ That they just assume it's a good place to leave their animals if they can't take care of them anymore. Maggie has been, quite literally, a dream dog.

Wait, lets do a little rewind here....... A Great Pyrenees is a shepherds dog, originated in France that was bred to guard the flocks & haul artillery over the Pyrenean Mountains. They are usually rather large dogs(100-120lbs) but females can be substantially smaller(80-90lbs) than males. They are great babysitters for kids, watchful, calm & even tempered ---- unless provoked (keep that in mind for a future story). They don't fully mature until the age of 2 so I'm sure she has a little more growing to do & the breed standard states they should have dual dew claws on their hind legs.... Like having 2 thumbs out of the same joint. (shown below)

Okay, so, as I was saying she has shown up to this point to be a dream find!! She is great with the other dogs. Not playful, not aggressive, just indifferent, great with kids, POTTY TRAINED, loves to ride in the truck, doesn't run off! She took to us immediately. She's obviously been around people. So I was wrestling with Duke & he was making the "gerrrrr" noise he often makes when we play. Maggie, bowed up & showed her teeth at him in protest. It was enough to make her point that she didn't like Duke "hurting me". Unbelievable instincts; she keeps her eye on everything that's going on & where everyone is going. She's super alert to changes & wants your eye contact when she's trying to tell you something. She rang the potty bells in my house & sleeps next to the bed all night & doesn't move. Remind me off all this in a few weeks when she gets totally comfortable & starts to open up a bit ;o) So anyways, that's Maggie, the newest member of the Gang! (for now at least)

Maggie, Lars, & Gracie hang'n out!

Goochie-goo

Bye, Bye Scarlet :'o(

Scarlet had her go-home lesson this morning. I was very sad for her to go. Can I say.... in the beginning she did NOT due me proud. She was out of her mind with excitement to see her momma & be back home & she definitely had the mentality that she did NOT have to listen now that she was home. It took a few minutes to remind her that was not the case & to collect herself & act like she' been away for training for a month! In the end she composed herself & was back to the trained..... sane Scarlet. Her momma made put together a beautiful arrangement of fresh cut Hydrangeas as a thank you. They are lovely & I love them! I can't wait to have follow up lessons with Scarlet & Mo & see how they are progressing with their mom!

Jelly & Jake

This is Jelly (Angelica) & Jake! Jelly is here for her Basics & Jake is getting revised remote collar work. Angelica is a Great Dane puppy & Jake is a Jack Russell/Beagle/Something mix....heehe. He's soooo cute & full of personality. He is super smart & doing wonderful learning the remote collar. His momma wanted him to polish up on coming when called & getting "out" when told. Specifically out of the riding arena when she's working her horse. Jelly is a cutie but definitely has her own agenda & minding is NOT on that to-do list. She's doing excellent with her leash work & heeling but fighting the "come" command. Surprise, surprise! :o)They are staying until the end of the week & then it's back to South Carolina! More to come on Jelly & Jake!!

Hi, I'm Lars....

Hi, I'm Lars. I'm staying with Miss Ashleigh learning how to not be scared around other dogs & learn some Basic Obedience. My mom & Miss Ashleigh said it's not nice for me to act out mean towards other dogs :o/ And, that I should follow basic commands when I'm told to do so. It's not so bad actually. I really like to please & get my butt scratched when I did what I'm supposed to. Miss Ashleigh taught me to heel at her left side & sit nicely, hold a sit & down until she tells me, to come & a release command. It's kinda cool. The other dogs have been really nice to me & I'm getting along with them pretty good. I still get a little cranky but I have until Wednesday to keep working. I really miss my sister, Manu, & my mom & dad but it's been great here! If I had to be anywhere else, I think I'd chose to play at Miss Ashleigh's house. Miss Ashleigh has some kitties that I thought would be fun to chase..... but I was wrong. They aren't even scared of me!!! They rub on my face & stuff. Booooo, no fun. There is a kitty at my house name Gilligan & I can't wait to get back home to chase him. Ahhh..... good times. Well in the mean time Miss Ashleigh says I just get to hang out with her & the other dogs learning my manners around the gang & polishing up on my obedience. It's purdy fun!! BYE!! :o)

HI MOM & DAD!!! IT'S ME GRACIE, BUT YOU ALREADY KNEW THAT FROM MY BEAUTIFUL PICTURE! I KNOW YOU PROBABLY MISS ME A LOT BUT I AM TOTALLY HAVING WAY TOO MUCH FUN!! YEA, YEA, MISS ASHELIGH IS TEACHING ME TO BE GOOD & NOT EAT STUFF BECAUSE SHE SAYS IT'S NOT LADY LIKE SO I GUESS I HAVE TO LISTEN.... BUT ANYWAYS, SHE HAS ALL THESE FUN DOGS HERE TO PLAY WITH & THEY LIKE TO PLAY LIKE ME. MY MOST BESTEST FRIEND IS, SCARLET. SHE LIKES TO GET DIRTLY LIKE ME! MISS ASHLEIGH ISN'T TOO CRAZY ABOUT THAT BUT SHE GETS OVER IT, HAAHAA. SHE JUST GIVES US LOTS OF CLEAN UP BATHS. ANWAYS, SO WE WRESTLE & SLEEP, & RUN, & SLEEP, & WRESTEL & EAT & SLEEP, IT'S SOOOO MUCH FUN. OH, MISS ASHLEIGH TOLD ME I HAD TO TELL YOU I'M LEARNING HOW TO BE JUST LIKE MY BIG SISTER, BELLA. SHE STARTED TEACHING ME HOW TO OBEY MY OBEDIENCE COMMANDS EVEN WHEN SHE DOESN'T HAVE THE LEASH!!! ITS AMAZING HOW I STILL HAVE TO LISTEN EVEN IF SHE ISN'T CLOSE TO ME.....HMMM? SHE TELLS ME I'M A GOOD GIRL ALL THE TIME, WELL EXCEPT FOR WHEN I'M NOT, & SHE LOVES ON ME A BUNCH. SHE SAYS I GET TO GO WITH HER TO THE HORSES BUT OFF THE LEASH THIS TIME!!! IT'S GOING TO BE SO AWESOME. MAYBE SHE'LL TAKE ME & SCARLET. OH MY GOSH, THAT WOULD BE SO FUN! OKAY. I LOVE YOU MOMMA. SEE YOU AT THE END OF THE MONTH.... WISH I COULD STAY LONGER :o)

LOVE, GRACIE

Hi Family! Sasha, here. I miss you guys a lot but I have to say, Miss Ashleigh's house is so much fun. She has these cool woods behind her house that we get to go on a nature walk in the evenings when it's cooler out & not raining! I got to go to the dog park with Miss Ashleigh!! That was so cool. I had to do my obedience first. Like, she made me heel from the truck down to the fenced in area where we played. And then when we got there I had to hold my sit & down stay for a little while. And then, I got to play, but Miss Ashleigh is teaching me to come when she calls me even if I'm playing so, I had to come over to her & sit down & then she loved all over me & I get to play again. She took me to the horses with her to work on my off leash work but I was a little scared at first. Gracie says I need to stop being a baby & just play so maybe next time I'll have more fun. Miss Ashleigh says I am so smart & she tells me I'm going home next week. I'm really going to miss all the friens I've made here but I can't wait to see you guys! I love you guys!

Love,
Sasha

P.S. I haven't had any accidents in the house!

Much Needed Updates!

Well.... where do I even start. I've been bad, bad, bad about updating the progress of the pooches. Here goes!
Mo went home last week & FAB-U-LOUS!! He & his momma were headed out to the beach for one week & then Miss Scarlet gets to join her momma & big brother back at home. Scarlet needed a little extra work. Which leads me to Scarlet...

Scarlet is doing 100 times better. She is going everywhere with me off leash & responding extremely well. We're working on her attention to commands..... right now she's not good at holding them, especially around distractions. She is quite the social butterfly & LOVES playtime. She is getting big fast. She is scheduled to go home Monday. I'm sure her momma & Mo will be happy to have her home! I am so happy I had the opportunity to work with not 1 but 2 Spinones!!!! Maybe I'll add the breed to my list of dogs I'd like to own in my lifetime.....
Here are some pictures of Scarlet working on her off leash at the dog park!
Mugsy is practically like one of the family now. He gets along great with EVERYONE! He is such a lover & so fully of personality. He has such a silly side..... but that's definitely the Boxer in him. He is doing excellent with his Basic Obedience.... no problems what so ever. I definitely hope his forever home decides to continue working with him & even completes the Advanced Obedience! Mugsy would love the added freedom of exploring at the park when we go out or even going to the barn with me & being able to explore off the leash! Keep your fingers crossed for Mugsy that the Rockin P Rescue gets lots of calls of people that would like to adopt him!!
Sasha is doing wonderful! She has about a week or more left on her training & she's coming along just like she should. She love splaying with the gang & is super attentive to her commands. She is super willing to please & such a lover at night when it's time to calm down & just snuggle. She is going to be such a great dog for her family. She's personable & inquisitive. I'll start her off leash work this week & then she'll be good to go!! More pictures of Sasha to come!!
Gracie, Gracie, Gracie......
Where do I begin with her ;o) She is such a sweet girl. Her nickname is Hoover due to the fact that as she walks around with her face to the ground eating anything in her tracks. That's been the biggest obstacle with her..... teaching her to keep her head up when she's not in a command to keep her form eating EVERYTHING!! She's fine if she's in a command & her attention is on the commands or me but give her free rein to do as she pleases & she's looking for things to put in her mouth.... like a teething baby :o) She is doing TONS better with her obedience in general. She is still super exuberant & would prefer to run everywhere we go but she is starting to learn to sloooooow doooowwwn & focus. She will definitely keep her momma on her toes when she gets back home..... which isn't until the end of June.... thank goodness for me!

Kinsley is awesome. We're slowly coming along with the "get the paper" command. He reeeally doesn't like the plastic in his mouth. He's doing it but reluctantly so I think I'm going to encourage his with his favorite reward at the end.... lots of love & a liver treat ;o) That should perk him up a bit! He is still a little nervous when we go to new places but worlds better than he was before. He'll just need the continued exposure to new things & of course his new momma & dad will keep up with his commands & keep him in line :o) He is scheduled to go home the weekend of June 19th & I know his new family (my aunt & uncle) can't wait to have him there FINALLY!!

Parker joined me for about 6 days for me to teach him the Advanced Obedience! He did wonderful & he's going to have so much more fun with his owners now that he can run off leash & they can feel confident he'll come back when they call him, no matter what he sees or would rather play with! I can't wait to hear updates on how well Parker & his family are doing with is off leash skills!!

Jasmine & Kiki have been boarding as well as Miss Ava & two newbies, Phoebe & Tad. It's always great to have the extra playmates & Parker & Ava love each other!! I love being able to keep in touch with my trainees & see them regularly!!
Kiki getting ready for bed Jasmine (or as we call her Jazz-er-men)AvaWe have new trainees coming in this week as these guys start to head out! More to come with updates on the new guys starting training!!
